Birkebeinerrennet
The first edition dates back to 1932 to commemorate the journey made by some skiers in 1206 to rescue the infant heir to the Norwegian throne, Håkon Håkonsson. The race begins in Rena and ends in Lillehammer after a 54-kilometer course. All participants carry a backpack of at least 3.5 kg, symbolizing the weight of the king at one year. The number of participants has steadily increased each year, and since 2011, the limit has been set at 16,000.
RODE, with its Norwegian distributor, ULTIMATE NORDIC, is a sponsor of the event and takes care of the pre-race waxing and along the course with five "Ski service" stations for the athletes.
